£1,500 Apprenticeship Grants available for Employers taking on new 16 – 24 year old Apprentices
New funding is available through the European Social Fund which will provide 1,025 Apprenticeship Grants for 16 to 24 year olds in the South East region. The grant will provide employers with up to £1,500 to invest in appointing a new apprentice by employing a 16 – 24 year old person.
Providing apprenticeship opportunities to young people is a fantastic way to invest in your current and future business needs. This grant can help towards the purchase of equipment or go towards the wages of a young person whilst providing you with support you need to meet your everyday business needs.
Employers
The grant is particularly aimed at small and medium sized employers in the private and third sectors employing no more than 250 full time staff, who are either:
· Interested in employing an apprentice for the first time OR
· Returning to recruiting an apprentice after a lapse of 12 months or more OR
· Already employing apprentices but will commit to employing more 16 – 24 year olds than they otherwise would
The apprentice they employ is:
· 16 – 18 year olds who are not in education, employment or training and are seeking an Apprenticeship
· 19 – 24 year olds who are seeking an Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3 )and have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for six months or more, or are seeking an Advanced Apprenticeship following a Pre-Employment Training Programme
