What is City Horizons (e2e)?
The programme is for young people aged 16-18
The entry 2 employment programme is designed specifically for 16-18 year olds who are unemployed or not in education and want to get ahead. If you want to take control of your future but need some support, the City Horizons programme could help you on your way to managing your career success.
The programme will look at your needs. It will offer training and help you to gain the experience and qualifications you require to move in the right direction and maximise your potential!
What will I be doing on the programme?
You will spend up to 30 hours per week at our Training Centre in St Mary’s Street and on work tasters developing the following skills:
· Vocational studies – spending time developing your employability skills and obtaining experience in a real working environment
· Employment skills training – writing your CV and practicing your interview skills
· Improve your literacy and numeracy skills and work towards qualifications in these areas
· Work placement – all of our learners will have the opportunity of trying out different work tasters
· A variety of enrichment activities are available to help build up your confidence and improve your teamwork e.g. visits to major employers, team challenges, power boating, football and keep fit sessions
· Job opportunities - you will be given support and guidance on finding suitable employment
· Further Education – you may wish to progress onto a full-time course at City College
How long is the programme?
The average length of stay on our programme is 18 – 20 weeks
Will I get paid?
You can apply for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), plus help with your travel expenses
What happens at the end of the course?
Whilst on the programme you will be working towards the following 3 options:
· Apprenticeship
· Job
· College course
The staff will be committed to guiding you and will support you even after you leave the programme.
