Motor Cycle Repair

The Motor Cycle Apprenticeship is delivered over a two year period. You will attend college one day a week.

As a Motor Cycle Apprentice you will assemble, maintain, repair and restore motorcycles.

Your duties will include:

·         Diagnosing problems and locating failures within the electrical system, engine, power train, suspension and frame

·         Communicating with customers and service managers about the functioning of the machine

·         Dismantling, adjusting, repairing or replacing mechanical and electrical system parts or components

·         Performing routine maintenance such as cleaning and adjusting the clutch, brakes and drive chain, and replacing worn parts

·         Rebuilding or replacing parts

·         Assembling new machines

You will work up to 40 hours a week, Monday to Saturday.

You will need to have an excellent knowledge of motor cycle technology and have good problem-solving skills to find faults. The ability to work quickly and pay attention to detail will be very important when customers’ have deadlines.

Mandatory Units (all to be taken)

·         Contribute to workplace good housekeeping

·         Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health & Safety

·         Maintain positive working relationships

·         Carry out routine vehicle maintenance

·         Remove and replace engine units and components

You will then need to choose 2 optional Units out of a choice of 4

ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP
NVQ Level 3

·         Maintain positive working relationships

·         Diagnose and rectify vehicle engine and component faults

You will then need to choose 3 optional units out of a choice of 6
