About the course:

Southampton City Training offers a flexible programme to complete the NVQ 2 in Childcare. This course is aimed at those of you who work with babies, toddlers and children

Course Content:

The course is divided up in to seven units, six of which are mandatory and one is optional.
The mandatory units cover:

- Contribute to positive relationships
- Help to keep children safe
- Support children’s development
- Use support to develop own practice in children’s care, learning and development
- Prepare and maintain environments to meet children’s needs
- Support children’s play and learning

Entry Requirements/Qualifications:

You must be working or volunteering in a relevant setting and be prepared to take part in workplace based observation and assessment.

Progression:

Child Care Level 3

Tuition and Assessment:

- This is a tutor led course delivered on a modular basis

- You will receive 100% support from your tutor and assessor

- Case studies can be used for portfolio evidence which are holistically cross-referenced through the portfolio, making less work for the learner

- You can choose your own units for the NVQ, making it your own NVQ. However, the assessor is always happy to guide you on which modules would be the most appropriate to take

- The assessor will observe in the workplace to gather the majority of the evidence for the portfolio

Duration:

We allow one year in which to complete the course but on average candidates complete within 6-8 months. This is dependant upon candidates individual circumstances and the amount of time they can devote to their studies.

Course costs:

£550 plus £75 exam fee. The course is FREE OF CHARGE to candidates eligible for funding under Train2Gain and those who are over 16 and join the Apprenticeship programme.
